The Warrior CODE

Roman Stoicism, European Knights & Chivalry, Japanese Bushido – all represent a timeless CODE – the Way of the Nobleman...! Eastern and western warriors, having never met, chose the words "Knight" and "Samurai" to identify their greatest citizens. Amazingly, both terms directly translated mean "to serve"! From these grand warrior societies we learn that there are essentially only two ways to get ahead, whether personally, socially, politically, or economically:

The first way is by taking – learning to "play the game"

The second through giving – learning to "live by a CODE"

The former "attitude" destroys people, families, organizations, and entire societies; the latter builds them! In view of the turmoil faced by our contemporary society, a program that emphasizes the higher values of the warrior CODE would be an important addition to existing training & development programs. Our world is desperately in need of people who can step into the role of mentor and protector – roles that in many cultures have been played by the warriors.

Traditionally, warriors have been people who have put self-interest second to the needs of the community. In addition to being protectors, warriors have also been providers and teachers. Today we need to encourage the warrior ethic throughout our culture. Authority figures in the classroom, the boardroom, the political arena, and especially the home, would do well to accept such ethic.
